"The German" was born in Kherson but moved to Germany with his parents as a child. There, he graduated from medical college, worked in his profession, and seemed to have a peaceful life.
But the war changed everything. In March 2022, he left his job and returned to Ukraine.
At first, he volunteered: helping in Lviv with the Christian Medical Association and later joining the Red Cross Rapid Response Unit in Mykolaiv. But volunteering wasn’t enough for him.
"I wanted to do more," says Vsevolod.
So, he joined the Hospitallers. In May, he completed the training and became part of the legendary Fifth Crew under the command of Cheka.
Avdiivka. The assault on the coke plant. Five wounded in his vehicle: concussions, amputations, and one soldier with exposed abdominal organs. That day, they managed to save 13 people.
It was a baptism into a new life. And the young man realized he was no longer the person he used to be.
The work of the Fifth Crew was honed to the smallest detail: exemplary vehicle preparation, protocols, and analysis after every evacuation.
"An iconic moment was the handover of a wounded soldier from the case to the medevac. From the moment we arrived at the location, The German took charge of the process. Cheka would simply brief him on the condition of the wounded, and everything ran like clockwork," recalls comrade Borsuk.
"The German... he’s a character," says another comrade. "He left everything he had achieved and came to Ukraine. A young romantic who strummed a guitar, in some ways immature and unaccustomed to harsh conditions. Yet, at the same time, he became an example of the German traits of Ordnung (order) and Disziplin (discipline) in the medevac team he led."
Beyond his work on the front lines, Vsevolod is an instructor at the Hospitallers’ training center. Teaching others is his calling.
"I enjoy simplifying complex things so people can understand them better," he says.
Students confirm his "excellent teaching skills and clarity of instruction."
"When The German is teaching, classroom discipline is on another level!"
Recently, Vsevolod joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces. After much effort, he finally signed a contract with the unit he dreamed of serving in.
